J.K. Rowling Recounts Fate-Revealing Conversations With 'Potter' Stars
posted by Jas, 10/19/07
JK Rowling talked about the conversations she had with the cast about the fate of their characters in Deathly Hallows before the book was released.

"I think they were always petrified of asking me," she said, smiling broadly. "I went down to the set and Dan [Radcliffe] and I had a real chat and it was great. And I said to him 'Dumbledore's giving me a bit of trouble.' And he said, 'But Dumbledore's dead!' And then immediately 'Don't tell me! Don't tell me!'" But that didn't stop Radcliffe from "pretending that he knew the ending of book seven," Rowling laughed, saying his loose lips got him his just desserts. "He went down the corridor to the other kids, because they were still being schooled at the time, and he said, 'She's told me, I know what happens,'" Rowling related. "Of course, then he was besieged and started to panic." "He got a little taste of what it's like to be me," the author cackled. "Serves him right!"

Surely, though, some bits of information were necessary to play it right– and none more so, apparently, than what was to develop between a certain pair of would be lovers. "I told all of them little bits, [but] I told Emma Watson the most," Rowling said of the actress who plays Hermione Granger, who in the seventh novel finally gets her romantic moment with Ron Weasley. "She nearly fell off the chair laughing when I told her who she had to kiss."

Potted wizard tricks
posted by Jas, 10/16/07
IcWales reports that Dan is going to attend a show called Potted Potter at Beaufort Theatre

Potted Potter somehow manages to cram all seven Harry Potter books into an hour-long parody show with comic storytellers Dan and Jeff. The duo were originally challenged to tell the story of the then five books into five minutes for a launch of the sixth at Border's Bookstore in London. They were invited to perform on Blue Peter, where they were already resident storytellers, and Richard and Judy, before extending the show to an hour, including the seventh and final book The Deathly Hallows, and taking it to the Edinburgh Festival in 2006.

"The show is a parody, it's very tongue in cheek and there's plenty of audience participation, including a game of quidditch. Asked if creator of the boy wizard, Rowling, approves of the show, Dan says: "Yes, we're in regular contact with her people, Harry Potter is such a national treasure now you have to be careful what you do with him. "Daniel Radcliffe (Harry in the films) is coming to see the show in London; perhaps we can give him a few tricks on how to play Harry properly!"

Potted Potter will be at Beaufort Theatre, Ebbw Vale, on Tuesday, October 30, at 2pm. Call 01495 355800 for tickets, and at Abertillery's Metropole Theatre on Wednesday, October 31, call 01495 322510.

'Harry Potter' producer looks ahead
posted by Jas, 10/08/07
Producer David Heyman talked about the Harry Potter franchise and mentioned Dan's decision on doing Equus.

Good actors will seek out challenging projects, something not always consistent with wholesome family fare. But Heyman insists that he doesn't stand in the way of such ventures. "You don't put a stranglehold on an ambitious young actor who wants to stretch," he says, talking of Radcliffe and his headline-making turn on the London stage earlier this year. "Everybody talks about him being naked in 'Equus' but not that his character blinded six horses. There seems to be more concern about Dan's willy than the substance of the play. But I respect him and his choices."

Daniel Radcliffe
Age: 18
What He's Done: Brought the world's most famous wizard to life in the 'Harry Potter' movies; currently stars in indie 'December Boys'
What's Next: More 'Harry Potter,' and a possible Broadway turn for his daring 'Equus' role, which drew crowds and raves in London.
Worth Knowing: 'Harry Potter' wasn't actually Radcliffe's first movie role -- he played the son of Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis in 'The Tailor of Panama.'
Industry Buzz: "He is aging brilliantly and he'll get better as he gets older. I can just imagine him in his 30s, 40s, 50s -- smooth, dashing and very sexy. He's definitely here to stay." -- Nadine Jolson, Executive Director, Jolson Creative Image PR

Beyond Potter
posted by Jas, 10/01/07
An interview with Dan with new quotes.

This month, he started filming the sixth film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," and he is committed to the seventh and final segment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," expected to be released in 2010. "Potter's a marathon, not a sprint, as the saying goes," he said, and he expects to spend 9-˝ hours a day on it for the next eight to 10 months. "We'll get a break at Christmas, and other than that, you're there. It's fun for me because I'm there every day, so you get in a rhythm, a very regular rhythm with it, so it's very easy to relax."
